About the Event
Enjoy a high-quality virtual visit back in time to Ancient Rome. Staying safe and staying home, you will enjoy a decade's worth of insights gleaned from leading pilgrims and patrons through the beauitful & compelling drama of sacred beauty and ancient history. It is also a perfect opportunity to get some real *insider* information with a small group of online friends.
The theme of this virtual visit will focus on the Roman Forum, or ancient downtown Rome. For the West, can we say that the Roman Forum is the most important ancient downtown ever? I would say, probably so, yes!
Specfically, we will investigate how from the ancient Roman Kingdon to the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire-- all important stages in the development of the ancient powerhouse of Rome--the Romans dedicated themselves to bringing order from chaos. Engineering order, whether it be military, religious, or politicial order, the cultural hegimony of the Romans was most visible in their downtown center, and became like a sort of fertizilier to early Christians, and later Western peoples and cultures, when it came to sowing their own idea about living in an ordered world or ordered cosmos.
To go along with our visit to Rome's ruins, we will enjoy wine while looking and investigating at places where ancient Romans drank wine themselves! And since we are speaking about order, what brings order and balance to high-end wines? What can we look for in its structure? Also, how do heritage, ancinet vines & the flavors they hold, still come across in the wine we drink today? Is there a hint of flavor in our wines that unite us to the flavors the Ancient Romans enjoyed? Our wine expert will answer these questions & more when we pair our visit to the Roman Forum with REAL, delicious Roman wine,
