About the Event
Enjoy a high-quality virtual visit to the mystical, peaceful, awe-inspiring holy city of Assisi. Rather than traveling thousands of miles, across seas and oceans only to walk thousands of steps up hills to visit this medieval town, you now you can make that journey from the comfort of your home!
Staying safe and staying home, you will enjoy a decade's worth of insights gleaned from leading pilgrims and patrons through the beauitful & compelling drama of sacred beauty. It is also a perfect opportunity to get some real *insider* information with a small group of online friends.
The theme of this virtual visit will focus on Saint Francis of Assisi, his life & times, what made him a radical reformer & penitent, as well as harbinger of modern man. We will explore all this by gazing upon the beauty of the Basilica that carries his name, and the basilica where he lived out his life & ministry. This visit will serve as a general introduction to Franscican Scholatisim, the High Middle Ages, & the rise of Mendicant Orders.
What's more, Assisi can be hard to get to for visitors coming to Italy, or Europe, for a limited amount of time. This makes is a perfect excuse to enjoy it's unmatched beauty virtually, from home. And when you do go, your day(s) are so full trying to see every beauty that the town of Assisi has to offer, that you rarely have time to enjoy the local countrysides and their *fabulous* local Umbrian wines. We will toast the man of Peace, Saint Francis, with the fine wines from Antonelli Vineyeards. Get to knoe the beauty of the Franciscan way of life, and the beauty of a great glass of vino!
This is not a boring Zoom; this is a highly-interactive and highly-produced virtual cultural experience.
All the virtual walks will take place online, of course. To participate you will need a computer with a good (fast) internet connection, and Zoom downloaded onto your computer or device. We recommend that you have WhatsApp installed and working, but this is not necessary.
Once you register, all the log-in details, instructions, and directions will be sent to you via email.
As a courtesy, if you plan to no longer participate in the virtual tour, we ask you to please provide us with a cancellation notice at least 24 hours before the event. We cannot guarantee refunds for cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, though we will endeavor to do our best !
